Yahoo Yellow Stained Glass Poppy on Garden Stake

This beautiful flower is an amazing addition to any garden. It will bring it's vibrant yellow to wherever you choose to 'plant' it, which of course can change whenever you decide to move it, perhaps to a space where the flowers have been and gone or are still to bloom?

It can also be 'planted' into a large flower pot inside or outside and could be grouped together with several others.   

These flowers can be left outside all year round.

However they should be positioned well away from any hard surfaces they could 'sway' into when the wind blows to avoid damage to the petals.

 

The process starts with drawing out and cutting five petals from textured stained glass and then carefully reshaping each one individually so the general shape develops into a smooth undulating curvy edging,  to enhance the effect of a crinkled petal with movement. 

Each petal is ground smooth along all the edges before copper foil is securely attached around each petal and all the copper foiled parts of each petal are bead soldered. 

All the petals are then soldered together with the copper-foiled and soldered glass nugget, which forms the centre,  together with wire and the metal stake and the whole flower is bead soldered again.

Meanwhile, each stamen is made by threading a glass bead onto the end of a precut piece of wire. The wire is twisted back on itself to hold the bead and then soldered into place before being washed, treated with copper patina and washed again. Each of the numerous stamens are secured around the centre of the flower with solder.

Finally the whole piece is thoroughly washed, copper patina is applied and then polish so it is ready for your garden or home.

The flower head is approximately 8" / 20.5cm in diameter, the metal stake is apprximately 40 "/ 1 m long so the total height is approximately 48" / 121cm although the stake can be cut shorter, it needs to be long enough to be pushed deep enough into the ground so it can support the weight of the flower head
