This very small incredible creation is a completely original design and the only one of it's kind. An amazing piece of artwork which was made for an exhibition called 'Glitz and Glamour' at The Pyramid Gallery in York who challenged designers to make a piece no bigger than 5 inches/12.7cm square.

I rose to the challenge and made this one piece with a very unusual 'wavy' silver mirror backing, topped by a layer of iridescent glass of various colours with tiny glass beads threaded onto spiralling wire bursting upward and outwards in co-ordinated areas of colour around the circle.

A very, very special, perfect gift to yourself or to someone you care about.

A truly unique piece, the only one like it!!  It is a very special present and can be made ready for posting, nestled in a bed of tissue tissue paper. I can post it to you or your chosen friend or relative with a hand written 'note from the maker' explaining how the piece was made and, if required, who has chosen this piece, and why.

This extra special piece was made for an exhibition at the gorgeous Pyramid Gallery in York.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this thoroughly exhuberantly glamourous piece with layers of stained glass to add intrigue with so many details in the design.

It will be best hung on your wall, from it's hidden hanger which I have soldered to the back of this piece.

A long, extra special process.

I started by cutting a circle of the wavy silver backed mirrored glass.

I cut the circle into 6 different shapes/sections and after grinding them smooth added copper foil to each piece and soldered them all back together.

Then I cut 6 different colours of iridescent stained glass - each piece corresponded to one of the shapes of the sections of the mirror.

Each of these was cut into 2 or three pieces and ground smooth, before copperfoil was added. Each piece was bead soldered and then soldered to the edge of the circular mirrored base, at an angle, so it rose up in the middle, as if something was bursting upwards from the centre of the mirror and pushing them upwards.

Then all the coloured glass beads which had been previously threaded onto the tightly twisted spiralling wire were also soldered into place around the edges and centre of the mirrored backing.

Each of the 6 sections has a different colour of iridescent glass and beads.

A long wire hanging was soldered to the back of the finished piece so it cannot be seen from the front.

The whole piece was finally washed thoroughly and polished to help it sparkle and shine even more!!
