This stunning Blue Poppy is my new design interpretation of the amazing Meconopsis. Here is a permanent reminder of this beautiful flower which has hidden hoops securely soldered to the back of the flower so it can be hung in a window or againgst a mirror. I supply strong nylon line for you to use to hang it and would not recommend using a 'window sticker-hook' as it will not be strong enought for the weight of the flower.

This hanging version has been made in response to requests from customers.

This beautiful flower is an amazing addition to any garden. It will bring it's sensational shade of blue to wherever you choose to hang it, which of course can change whenever you decide to move it, perhaps to which ever window you spend the most time looking out of at times of the year?
It would also look stunning hung againgst a mirror which can give the added bunus of seeing it from all angles.
It should be hung in a place where a hard surface it may hang againgst will not move eg NOT on a door, to avoid damage to the petals.
The edges of the petals can be finished in silver or black - please specify when ordering which you would prefer, request further photos or contact me to discuss.
The process starts with drawing out and cutting five petals from textured stained glass and then carefully reshaping each one individually so the general shape develops into a smooth undulating curvy edging, to enhance the effect of a crinkled petal with movement.

Each petal is ground smooth along all the edges before copper foil is securely attached around each petal and all the copper foiled parts of each petal are bead soldered.

All the petals are then soldered together with the copper-foiled and soldered glass nugget, which forms the centre, the wire hoops are made and attached to the centre and thin guide - hops are attached to the edge of two petals to enable the flower to hang in the best poistion. The whole flower is bead soldered again.

Meanwhile, each stamen is made by threading a glass bead onto the end of a precut piece of wire. The wire is twisted back on itself to hold the bead and then soldered into place before being washed, treated with copper patina and washed again. Each of the numerous stamens are secured around the centre of the flower with solder.

Finally the whole piece is thoroughly washed and polished.
