This stunning very large Rainbow Circle is about 10.5 inches in diameter and has seven large curves of beautiful rainbow coloured glass, each with a textured surface. It has been made using the copper foiling technique and solder.

It will cast amazing shafts of coloured light across your room when hung in a window and the sun is shining.

This beautiful large Rainbow Circle needs a large window or mirror to hang against to allow each of the vibrant colours to be fully appreciated. The use of a range of different textures of glass add an amazing extra level of interest as the coloured light shines into your room.
The design process is always the starting point and this piece required a strange mathematical calculation to be applied before I was happy with the positioning and curve of the curves! I then chose the seven different rainbow colours of gorgeously textured stained glass. Each piece of glass was then cut by hand according to it's place in the rainbow design before all the edges were ground smooth, copper-foiled and tin-soldered. The next stage was to solder all the pieces together and to bead solder along all the joints between each colour and on each side of the piece, before the soldering was completed all around the edge of the circle. At this point the handmade hoops, for the chain were soldered into place. Finally the whole piece was thoroughly washed and polished.
